Dr Y. Y. WONG
Dr. Wong started his career in the occupational Safety & Health as a Factory Inspector of Labour Department. He left the Government after 8 years of service and worked in various construction projects including the construction of the Yaumatei, Mongkok and Prince Edward Station and adjourning tunnels of the Mass Transit Railway, MTR Tsuen Wan Line, and as Safety Manager, Gammon Construction Ltd. He was appointed as the Executive Director of the Occupational Safety & Health Council when it was set up in 1988. He was the founder of Y. Y. Wong Safety Consultants Limited.
Dr. Wong is a Civil Enginneer by training and is a Fellow member and Registered Safety Practitioner of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in U.K, a Fellow of the Royal Institute for the Promotion of Health. He is also a Certified Safety Professional of the United States. Mr. Wong is a Fellow member and was the past president of the Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Association of Hong Kong.
Dr. Wong has involved in a lot of safety activities, and has been a Member of Safety Officers Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Government. He is also acting as part time lecturer in a number of safety training courses and speaker in public safety seminars and conferences. His recent speeches are at the 14th Asian Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organization Annual Conference in Seoul and the Symposium of the HK Institute of Engineers.
He is at present a Council member of the Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health Association, member of the Labour and Safety Committee of the Hong Kong Construction Association, a member of the Advisory Committee on Certification of Operators of Specified Plants and Equipment of the Labour Department, and President of the Society of Accredited Safety Auditors Ltd.
